Franco Abdelkader Omeich, President of the European-Arab Friendship Association, announced in a statement that he met with Damiano Sguaitamatti, the official responsible for the Middle East and North Africa portfolio at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. The meeting addressed the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and between Lebanon and "Israel," with discussions focusing on the humanitarian dimensions of the crises and efforts toward achieving a ceasefire.
Sguaitamatti reaffirmed "Switzerland's steadfast commitment to supporting international resolutions and international legitimacy," emphasizing the "importance of peaceful and sustainable solutions to conflicts in the region, and the principle of the two-state solution."
For his part, Omeich expressed his gratitude to the Swiss Confederation for its "ongoing efforts in supporting humanitarian initiatives and peace globally," highlighting the "long-standing historic role Switzerland plays in this field."
