The "European-Arab Friendship Association": The Transformation in Syria as a Starting Point for a New Era of Stability and Development

The President of the "European-Arab Friendship Association" based in Switzerland, Franco Abdelkader Omeich, welcomed in a statement "the reform steps and new directions led by the Syrian administration under the leadership of Mr. Ahmed al-Sharaa." He said, "The political and economic transformation that Syria is witnessing after the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime and the closing of the chapter of the devastating war that lasted for more than a decade represents a starting point for a new era of stability and development."

While praising "the efforts made by the new administration to strengthen civil peace and rebuild trust among the components of the Syrian people," he expressed appreciation for "the relentless pursuit of transitional justice and the reconstruction of what the war has destroyed, which is clearly reflected in the new administration’s collaborative approach with civil society, regional, and international countries."

He considered that "the recent visit of the American delegation to Damascus and the removal of Mr. Ahmed al-Sharaa from the list of wanted persons is a positive indicator of the possibility of building new international partnerships based on dialogue and mutual understanding," noting that "this step is the beginning of improving relations between Syria and the international community, contributing to enhancing Syria's role as a positive actor on the regional and global stage."

He concluded by emphasizing "the full support of the European-Arab Friendship Association for the new administration’s efforts in Syria to achieve lasting peace, and encouraged both European and Arab countries to provide all forms of support for Syria's reconstruction and the preparation of the ground for a bright future worthy of its noble people," extending "a salute of appreciation for their resilience," hoping that "this phase will mark the beginning of a new era of development and prosperity."
