Franco Abdelkader Omeich, President of the European-Arab Friendship Association, met with Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, at the league's headquarters in Cairo, in the presence of Ahmed Al-Adaileh, Chairman of the Arab Satellite Broadcasting Organization. They discussed the current situation in Lebanon, particularly the issue of displaced persons. Khattabi expressed his concern over the "deteriorating conditions" and emphasized the "need to protect civilians and keep them out of the ongoing conflict." Omeich expressed his gratitude to the Arab League and its Secretary-General for their "continuous support for the Lebanese people." It was agreed to "maintain communication and support any initiative that helps alleviate the suffering of the Lebanese people and work towards a ceasefire."
